Urbint applies AI to public and private data sets to help infrastructure operators predict safety incidents, reducing risk by more efficiently deploying resources to the right place at the right time. The company’s “Model of the World” takes historical incident data (i.e., third-party damage, leaks, and workplace accidents),  combines it with internal data (i.e., age, type and location of the asset involved) and external data (i.e., weather, soil conditions, traffic patterns, and urban density), then applies advanced machine learning to predict future incident occurrences.

Third-party excavation damage to below-ground infrastructure, especially natural gas lines – whether by road paving crews, construction firms, or even homeowners doing yardwork – is a serious public safety concern and source of economic loss.  Urbint’s approach can not only pinpoint which excavations are most likely to result in damage, but it can also cross-reference municipal permitting databases and flag excavation work. The result? Utility customers can focus their Damage Prevention resources with increased precision, minimizing disruption to critical networks.
